  • Visa rejection

Hi, My name is shruti and i had applied for a B2(travel) visa along with my mother in the same application. We were going to visit our aunt in California. Our application was rejected- reason unknown. I'm not working as of now as i am preparing for government services exams, but i was working before, My mother is a retired govt. official and gets pension and we were going to take care of our expenses during our stay there(some of my savings+my mother's). I do not know what to do next as we have already planned our trip and payed for our tickets. Also, My brother soon will be having exams and my mother would not be able to accompany me. If i apply alone this time, would there be a possibility it might get approved and how soon can i apply in that case? Please advise.

Also, they dint want to see any documents we carried, What is the purpose of us getting all the documents in place to prove what we were saying?

No offence but it is not that simple like you seem to think.

They presume everyone to be an immigrant and
you must show strong ties to India that will bring you back.

The ties they look at are
    * spouse, kids ,
    * stable job/business and strong income.

If you are young, single and non-working , it means no ties to India.
Same with your mother, no work, no spouse( you have not mentioned your dad , excuse me if I am wrong) .

About documents; they decide on the basis of your life situation rather than documents ; it is clearly stated on the US embassy website.

      Hello, Sachin.

Do you feel you are being a little harsh when sharing your opinion? We would do well if we could learn to be a little temperate while expressing ourselves. We all make mistakes, including the visa applicant

      Cheers, and chill, my friend.

      Bbye

      1. Already 300k illegal immigrants from India in the US who have abused the hospitality of that country. They dont want any more like you could be.

      2. The US does not want you to visit their country. Why did you book the ticket first? They couldnt care less. Your fault for doing that.

      3. If it that desperate get your aunt to visit you in India. Thats what the US will say.

      4. Why apply again? Nothing has changed and you risk a lifetime ban for irritating them when they dont want you in their country.

Remember you have no right to enter their country. So respect their view of you. Only US citizens do.

Thank you for taking time out and replying. I do understand we should not have taken it that easily. That was very wrong on our part. I've realised later that they might have thought I was a potential immigrant. So, anyway coming to the ties part, we do have our own house here which we mentioned to the Visa Officer. As per the job I have one but they havent given me a specific date of joining for a while now. I thought mentioning that might not help much so, i dint tell the visa officer that. Also since my mother retired recently, there's nothing much we could have done about her. As per my dad, he passed away in 2003.

Now, here's another situation, they also might have thought that we would not be able to fund ourselves there. My uncle is ready to sponsor and will send all the documents soon. So, is there a possibility we reapply and try to assure them that my uncle can take care of all our expenses and we might spend some off of our pocket too. Now can i tell them we have our own house here and aslo, I've a job but have not been given a specific date of joining?

The only reason i'm asking for help is because we want to go there and help our family, there are some family issues that I cannot mention on this forum. Also, my aunt & uncle cant come down either because their kids will miss out on school and college.

Any kind of advise will truely be appreciated.

          Thank you.

Mr. Sachin or what so ever your name is. I just wanted to know what could have been done and what can be done. Instead of trash talking if you could have given me a proper reply like peace99(I'm sorry..since i donno your name having to mention this way). He/she told me what my mistake was in a nice way. Just because you have an Id and password for a forum does not authorise you to (mind my language) post crap!! Me/ my mother donot have any intention to migrate there for any reason. I would really appreciate it if you could keep such thoughts to yourself and respect other's point of view as you mentioned yourself.

            Thank you.

              Hello, Shruti.

First thing, there is no way to predict the outcome of a visa interview. On this very forum you will read stories of applicants who had got rejected on the first go and their cases were approved in the 2nd interview (2nd interview in a very short span from the 1st), and when many member on this forum had opined that there was no point going for a 2nd interview. So, no one knows the outcome and you don't be surprised if you get an approval the 2nd time around.

Now, list of things that go in someone's favour:
              i) Steady job with good income
ii) Marital status - If someone has family here, most likely that person would return from USA
iii) If traveled to other countries

Also, key thing is confidence. Be clear while answering their questions and speak confidently.

I am not sure if this helps. But, wishing you luck with your next interview.

              Cheers,

                shruti

These days you do not have to tell them much,
they form an opinion about you by reading your DS 160 even before you have reached the window.

Ties come before the funding part. If they think you do not have the ties they won't think about the funding part.
                And someone sponsoring from US is usually( not always) a negative in two ways;
*as it tells the officer that you have to depend on someone else for the trip and thus you do not have the income ties to India.
*someone in US can provide you a foothold if you do not want to return.

Like Nattybone pointed out, many times the decisions are unpredictable and one gets lucky on reapplications.
Usually they want to know a change in situation when you reapply . And can deny when you say there is nothing different.

If you are rejected once, more likely you will get rejection again. Save youself money. The reason is that you applies one after another that shows desparation to go to usa. My sister didnt get visa even death of own father.

sachin your hate toward immigrant is pathetic. Please do not talk down people only because your citizen and they are not. Being citizen does not make you superior. Ms. Vittal please better yourself with good job in india only. Good luck
