b1/b1 vs b2

I filed an application for my father who wants to visit us as b1/b2 visa. After reading a few posts i am confused if I should have filed b2 instead of b1/b2. I have not taken an appointment yet. Please suggest if someone ever received a tourist visa on b1/b2.

If the purpose is mere tourism it has to be B2 VISA while filling DS160 ,however issued together as a B1/B2 visa

just maintain the b1/b2

On the forms u won't see only b1 or b2. its the combination of tjr two. So just keep it.

When i had applied for my Tourist Visa, they granted me a visa which read B1/B2. Hope this helps.
