  • Few doubts regarding B2 visa.

Hello all. I am just planning to apply for a tourist visa myself and done most of the work like filling ds160 and account creation in their ustraveldocs website. At a moment it is asking to enter employment details. At present i am working in a central university in Hyderabad as an outsourced staff(Not a permanent employee) engaged through a manpower consultancy. How shall i mention my job in ds160? As a government employee or o/s staff? Also My brother lives in USA but, planning to pay for my visa fee from my own earnings and want to attempt for the interview without a sponsor. Will this work out for getting visa without getting any help from my brother? As i read in some other posts, B2 can be self sponsored. What will be the success rate in getting visa independently?

    1. You need to mention whoever is employer. That is, whoever pays you salary.
    2. You don't necessarily need someone's sponsorship to get B2 visa. In fact, it is better that if you are able to show that you can take care of the expenses yourself. However, you must mention about your brother's presence in the US.
