  • Visitor Visa - Rejeced twice - reapply in Canada

    Hi,

I had applied for B1-Tourist visa and was interviewed on 8-March-04 and for the second time on 17-Nov-05 at US Consulate in Chennai, India.

Both the times I was refused for a visa. My reason for visit was to go on a holiday with my cousins who reside in the US and one of my cousin had sent me an invite letter.

I am presently in Toronto, Canada on a work permit for more than 6+ months now and my project here will continue until next year October 2014. I intend to visit a place near New York for a reunion with my friends cum colleagues who worked with me in a previous project for Christmas and New year. The drive from here is around 7-8 hours.

    1. Please advise what are the chances of visa being granted?
    2. Earlier my cousin had sent me an invite letter, but this time I do not have any. Even though I am not planning to visit my cousins who live in a different state due to limited vacation balance, do you recommend me to request them to send me an invite letter?
    3. If I am asked for my purpose of visit, what would be the best way to put across? A reunion with friends (or) to celebrate Christmas and New years with friends in NY. Please suggest.
    4. What are the documents I should carry?

    Thanks much!

    1. no way to tell chances of approval, but I would GUESS better now since you are in Canada.
2.inviate letters have little to no meaning you can get on it is your choice.
3,purpose keep it simple visit family/fiends.
    4. docs to carry? where to embassy? or across boarder if you get visa? docs to embassy anything that would show that you would not stay in the US.

I do not know what ties you presented on your previous denials in INdia( job, income, family), in canada your stay being really short 6months,
and if you are single, it will be difficult in my opinion. They will look at your ties to canada, no family, no long term job, they will think there
is nothing to bring you back. And you have the potential to move , you moved from India to canada , so you can stay back in US as well.
