My wife has H1B and i have B1/B2. Can B1/B2 be used for temporary visit?

My wife has an H1B and will be in US from 20th of this month for a temporary period of 6-8 months. She is traveling from India. I live and work in the UAE I have a Multiple entry B1/B2 which got stamped in 2010 in India for a business requirement. The visa is without any annotation and i didn't travel to US before. Both of us are in same company.
I intend to visit her and do some sight seeing for 2 weeks while she is in US and come back to the UAE to continue my job.
Can i visit her for 2 weeks using my B1/B2?
Is H4 mandatory for this kind of visits?
What should my ideal visa category so that my entry is not denied?
I don't want to risk my visa at US port of entry.
If B1B2 is good, then what should i tell about the purpose of visit to CBP?

Your B1/B2 IS the right visa for temp visit to US. H4 is required when you wish to live there long term with your H1 spouse.

Just tell the officer that you are here visiting your wife for xxx weeks.
Their main concern will be to make sure your visit is temporary.
So, you must carry a confirmed return ticket.
Usually they do not look at any documents but you should carry for safer side ;
*a copy of your wife's H-1 visa and entry stamp
* her contact address and phone no.
*proof of your work in UAE and proof of leave.
