  • Parents B2 visa queries

    Hi all,

My parents are applying for US visa to visit my sister and brother in law. My sis is a green card holder and has been living there since 7 years now and my brother in law is a US citizen. My mother had applied once before with me (im single and 27 years) but our visa got rejected. Now my sister is pregnant and i have read on multiple websites that we cannot use her pregnancy as one of the main reasons of my parents visit so we have decided to use "tourism and to meet their newly born first grand child" as the reason for travel. is that ok?

Also, my dad is sponsoring himself, he has 2 properties in his name, has rental income. also, im still unmarried and they are going to have to come back to get me married. i have one more sister in India who is married. are these reasons strong enough for them to believe they will come back? i read on one of the websites that there is something called "Affidavit of Assurance to Return". do we need that?

    thanks,
    Ritika

if affidavits for "assurance to return" worked then there would be no denials.

    such affidavits are useless.

Please post the last interview where all of you were denied. whatever u can recall.

is your dad retired or working? if retired , he will have to show strong savings/retirement income to self sponsor.

thanks for your reply. last time wen we applied, it was just me and my mum. they asked us 5 questions:

      1. why do u want to visit states? (from mom)
      2. where are you going to live there and with who? (from mom)
      3. what does your son-in-law do? (from mom)
      4. what does your husband do? (from mom)
      5. what do you do and whats your salary? (from me)

we are assuming that the main reason of our rejection was me as i was 25 then, single and was not earning that much. they didnt even see any of our documents. my dad had his own business but he took retirement from that about 3-4 years back, he is 62 now. do we need to show a lot of liquid cash? he has 2 properties in his name (quite valuable) and FDs as well.
I am still unsure whether to use pregnancy as a reason or no?

yes. You ; young and single with low income ties to India and sis as GC holder in US to be a potential anchor for you ,
        were easily a potential immigrant.
Also, you and your mum going alone they also could have thought you guys were going for your match.

Going for pregnancy is usually frowned upon.
Liquid cash is not necessary. Even deposits serve well . they may not look at any deposit receipts but he will have to tell them a good figure
when they ask him how he will fund his trip. 15-20L in deposits should do it. If you think he is short on deposits to mention a strong
figure, do not take a risk. let your sis or BIL send them an I-134 and sponsor them.
