  • Visitor visa for parents/in laws with a misdemeanor charge

    Hi,

I wanted to share with you guys my unfortunate situation. I was charged with shoplifting and had a misdemeanor for petit larceny charged against my name. I had made plans for getting my parents and inlaws to US on visitor Visa. I am currently on H1B Visa valid till Apr 2015. Can you please advise me if this charge will have a negative affect on the prospect of my parents and my inlaws visiting USA ? Charge is still pending and hasn't been proven yet. I wanted to know how this would affect me in the below situations

    1. I am found guilty and convicted with this misdemeanor.
    2. My case is dismissed.

Please let me know what all that can happen. I highly appreciate any help or response in this matter. Also, It would be helpful if you could guide me what implications do i have to face in case i go for h1b extension or Green Card?

As this charge is for you and not for your relatives, you should not have any problem in sponsoring their trip.
