Spouse/Children are considered the foremost family ties.

Your wife could apply and travel alone first since she has a govt job( an important tie) and you will act as a family tie for her.
You could apply after she has made a trip.

Thank you Mr.Taco for your valuable advice. We din't get visa in our first attempt two months back. Now if we apply individully-will it look odd?

You cannot apply separately if you want to travel together.
What I am saying is only your wife should apply and you should not apply this time at all. She can say that you have
your work to attend to and that you do not want
        to go.

You can apply once she has made one trip to the US.
