  • Planning for a Visitor visa for Parents and Younger Brother

    Hi,

Am looking for some guidance on what would be the chances of getting a tourist visa stamped for my parents and a younger brother. There may already have similar questions, but I couldn't see an answer what would the chances be of rejecting for all 3 of them vs only my brother.
    Here is some background info:
    1. Dad - Aged 62, Retired employee for last 15 years and currently just stays at home
    2. Mom - Aged 52, Home maker
    3. Younger brother - Aged 31, Single and currently working at an IT company for about 5 years.

    My details:
Am on H1 B visa living with wife. And expecting a kid in 3 months.

What I learnt is chances of getting visa stamped for brother are very slim. But my question is in case all 3 of them attend the interview and if the counsular decides to deny visa to my brother, will (s)he also denies for parents too?
Or can they just deny my brother and grant my parents.

Note: My brother has no intention to stay here. He just want to visit US and see places and spend sometime with us here.

    Hello, Srinivas.

Here are my thoughts on your queries:
    a) It does happen often that, when applying in a group, some are granted the visa, some not. So, it is possible that your parents might not get the visa, but your brother might and vice versa. And, also do not be surprised if all of them get the visa.

No one knows the outcome of a visa petition, we can only file and try. What strengthens an application is applicant profile. Your parents are retired and their one child is already in US and the other is not married and is also a visa applicant, this does not necessarily strengthen but again it would not hurt to try. Nobody knows what the visa officers might finally do.

As regards your brother, he has good stability by being with the same company for 5 years. Additionally, if he is in the salary bracket of close to 1 Million INR (P.A.) and has travelled other countries, his case becomes good.

If you want to try for a visa, you must. No one can ever with absolute certainty say what the visa granting officer will do. So, try you must.

I hope this helps. These are personal thoughts.

    Wishing you luck.

    Cheers,
These are my personal thoughts. I am not a professional.

    Wishing you luck.

        Schedule separate interviews

Please try not to schedule one group interview. It is better to get your brother apply separately. Frankly since your brother is single, it is going to be
very difficult for him to convince the VO that he has is not a potential immigrant.
        Good luck...
