  • Visitors Visa for parents and brother - Delhi

    Hi,

I have some doubts that I want to clear before my family applies for the b2 visitors visa in April 2014 in Delhi.

I am on H1-b and working as a Software engineer for past 1years 8 months. And I was planning to call my parents and elder brother here to stay with me for a month.

I have few questions regarding this:

    1. Should my parents self sponsor themselves? Both are government employees. My brother is working as Asst Manager. He is unmarried and his age is 28 years.
Or I should sponsor them. I have $10,000 in my bank account.
Or at interview they can say that they are self sponsoring and they have my bank statements as well. So it will be like I will also pay for their expenses and they will also pay.

    2. Should my brother apply with my parents in same interview or separate? What are his chances?

    3. As my parents are not fluent in English but they can understand little bit of it. In which language should I schedule the interview. Is English Okay as my brother would be with them and can translate.

    4. If they will ask the purpose of my brother's visit. I was thinking that he can say that he is coming for 15 days and accompanying my parents as they are travelling out of country for the first time and he will visit some places like Chicago, St louis and of-course to meet his younger sister (me).

Please reply to my queries and concerns. I will really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

About funding you cannot do it both ways. You have to choose one. They may not even ask them
who is funding ; they will just look at the answer to the question on the DS160 form " who is paying for the trip" and decide.
Your brother has good income for self funding, and since he is a bachelor( which is a negative), he should definitely show self funding.
Your parents' income is on the borderline, so they may just look at the income and say you cannot self fund without asking about the savings.
So you may choose to sponsor them. They should all go together as that is the embassy requirement.
Also opt for a Hindi interview. Because parents will be asked questions and they will not like your bro answering for your parents. These days many American consulars
speak fluent Hindi, so they won't need an interpreter.
