  • US Visitor Visa B2 Reapply

    Hello Everyone,

My mother's B2 (Visitor Visa) got rejected on May 2009 at Mumbai Consulate. She is a widow. Her real sister and brother stay in U.S. Her brother-in-law sent invitation letter to her and also sponsorship letter and all the other required docs. She was asked following questions at the time of interview:

VO: Who all are there in your family?
Answer: Me. my son & daughter

VO: Why you want to go there?
    Answer: For tourism purpose

VO: What does your son do?
Answer: He is doing engineering in pune

VO: What does your daughter do?
Answer: She is married in mumbai

Now, she is re-applying for B2 visa again but this time at New Delhi Consulate. I am married now, finally doing my own business in Rajasthan. So she had to shift from Pune and leave her job as we had to live together. We have our house and office in Rajasthan since 2003 which we gave on rent when we were in Pune. Now we are back and staying in our house since sept. 2013

Now, since she left her job and living with me in Raj. She is a homemaker now. Not sure, how should she put her case for the second attempt of US Visitor Visa (B2). Her real brother is staying in US with his family since 20 years. He's sending invitation letter. This time she's taking all the expenses on her own and wishes to visit her brother & do a trip and come back in three weeks.
Also, there is a trade show of the Textiles in U.S, which I'd want her to attend as I am doing business in the same line. Please advise as to how should she apply for the visa and waht documents to show to assure approval this time.

    documents really are not important.

    the reason she was denied;
she is a widow ( no spousal ties to home country) and she has immediate siblings in US well settled who are sponsoring.
It means ( to the officer) she can be supported by them in US and may not return.

Not working ; is another negative I am sorry.

Thank you for your response. We thought the same, now she badly wants to visit the country as her cousins are making plans and they are coming from Europe to join her in US for trip. How can we proceed in this, please guide. Besides, this time she is managing the finances of the whole trip on her own and her immediate relatives are not sponsoring this time. I am also married and we all are living together with my grandmother(Mom's mother).

there are several posts of widows being denied repeatedly; so nothing can be said for sure.

Another thing you could try is apply with her if you guys earn well. Also having a travel history abroad
        goes in favour.

Few years later since her visa for US was rejected, she applied for Shenzen Visa for Netherlands, which got approved and she traveled to many countries like France, Belgium, Netherlands and recently Thailand.

I was working earlier, but now I have started with my own business here and my wife is again a housemaker.
