change of status b1b2 to f1, please help me

hi everybody,


i have b2 visa 10 years multiple entry, my I-94 expire date is APR 18TH, i got admission, my college start date is MAY 27TH, i appiled for change of status on feb 25th, one my friend told me that, u have a valid status atleast one month from college start date.is it correct, please help me with correct information.

Hello, Pradeep.

A timely F1 transfer petition can allow one to stay a month (30/31 Days) prior to his course beginning, which in your case starts from April 27th, not earlier. Beginning April 19th, you will lose your status and then COS (Change of Status) will not be applicable as there is no longer any status. From my personal experience, i am sorry, it seems, this petition will not get approved.

I do not think you have enough time for another I20, if you can try enrolling for a programme which starts no later than May 18th (or for being on the safe side, 2-3 days earlier).
