  • Bank Statement and Birth Certificate

    Hi,

This is regarding Bank Statement and Birth Certificate requirement.

    1. Bank Statement:

I have account with Bank of America and when I ask them for the statement on their letter head they are saying it takes about 25 days. If I take the prints from Online Banking is it OK?

    2. Birth Certificate:

I am sponsoring for my in-laws and my wife doesn't have birth certificate. So how do we fulfill that requirement?

    Appreciate your suggestions.

      Hi

Reg. Bank Stmt. It's ok to print the statements from online. But you should get the consolidated data on one page from Bank of America with the following information on their letter head and signed by resp. person.

      A/C Opened Date
      Last Year Deposits
      Avg Balance
      Current Balance

        Bank Statement and Birth Certificate

        Hi,

I wonder why Bank of America says that.
We got an Account Verification letter from our bankers (Fifth Third Bank) on their letterhead, the same day. We also attached online bank statements for the last 2-3 months along with this letter, as proof of sound financial background.
You may want to talk to Bank of America again.

As regards birth certificate issue, we had a similar problem .I surfed the net a bit and this is what I found.
        -----------------------------------------------------------------
What if Birth certificate is not available?
In cases where the birth certificate record is unavailable from the authorities, then a sworn affidavit by either of the parents is required. In case they are no longer alive, then any close relative (like uncle, or a close family friend) older than the applicant may provide such affidavit.

This affidavit must be accompanied with a certificate of Non availability or No record of the birth certificate from the concern distt. office/government authority.

If the affidavit is provided by the relative, it must state the relationship with the applicant, how well the person/deponent knows the applicant, date and place of the applicant's birth, names of both the parents, and any other related facts.

        Requirements in brief:
Non Availability Certificate from the Municipality/Government authority of the place where the applicant was born. It should state/confirm that the birth record/certificate does not or no longer exists.
        Affidavit.
Note: This affidavit does not have a unique format identified by INS, hence different attorneys may have different layouts.

My husband's birth certificate had some errors and we attached an affidavit to the same.My mom-in-law got her visa without any problems.

You can also contact VFS via email through their website. They are pretty helpful.

        Hope this helps.
