  • Tourist visa health issues

I started drinking when I was around 20 and I had two incidents of acute alcohol intoxication when I was taken to the hospital for a couple of hours.
This was two years ago. I was never a regular drinker. I have 2 drinks a month max. I am now thinking of applying for a US tourist visa.
Will these two incidents amount to alcohol abuse or addiction as I am required to cite in the form?

Even if I put no should I provide them with the details of the my two hospital visits?

Should I talk to the embassy or contact a immigration lawyer straight away preparing for a non-waiver?

Has anyone had any similar experiences which they had to declare or not declare?

P.S: I am Indonesian with permanent residency in Australia

Was it a legal issue ?

    hi neha,

when you were taken to the hospital for acute intoxication, was it done through legal process ? as in did the cops take you to the hospital or did your friends/family took you to the hospital ?
USA government would be interested in knowing if you regularly get drunk and create chaos like DUI or brawl etc.
If in your case there was no criminal case filed with the local police. you do not need to mention it i the Form.

      Dear Sangeeta,
Thanks so much for your message.
No both times was in colleges. I was helped by campus security and friends. No cops involved (as far as I know).
I have no DUI or any other convictions. I live in France where they put the diagnosis for the visits as alcohol abuse/toxicomanie (addiction)/intoxication.
As I understand they need addicts to declare that they have been to rehab or been hospitalized. I was wondering whether this would amount to the above.
I am in no way addicted to alcohol. Just two stupid mistakes I made in college.

I may want to move to the US in the future. I was wondering whether this would deter me from doing so?

But thanks once again for your answer, I feel much better already.
