B2 visa to adjustment

Can anyone describe how “Adjustment of Status” works?
If someone travels US on B2 visa, so is it possible for immediate relatives to file immigration and or adjustment of status while person is in the US. If it doesn’t work like this then how adjustment of status will work ?

Adjustment of status means changing from one visa to green card while in US. It can happen only when a visa number is available under the category you are applying for the green card.
For Immediate relatives of US citizens only, the visa numbers are always available .
so one can adjust status from B2 or any other visa(with few exceptions) to green card in that category.

One must consider another important issue while adjusting status from B2. that is visa fraud. Once you enter on a B2 it automatically means you are a visitor and you have no immigrant intent.
But if you adjust status to GC it means you have immigrant intent, so you lied while entering on a B2.
Usually,with immediate relatives of US citizens, this condition is overlooked but some strict officer can use it to deny your adjustment of status.
