Can i setup appointment online?

I am new to this, planning to call my dad and mom early next year. They have passport from Bombay, the earliest interview date available is 17th Jan 2006. Tried to setup appointment, the website asking me HDFC reciept number.
Can someone please let me know the procedure to setup an online appointment? I am currently in the US, I do have a copy of my parents passport.

Also to add to this, my parents stay very close to Mumbai consulate, is it better to take in person Appointment date? what paperwork they need now to get an in person appointment?

I just went through all htis few days back..Here how it goes
1)Ask your parents in India to take their passport copy , cash to HDFC bank(only listed branches in VFS website).
2)they will be given a HDFC receipt(it gets activated after 2 days..)...You will need the number from the bar code sticker to book an appointment online
3)then book theri appoint ment on the web...make sure you have your parents name as mentioned in the passport, date of birth, passport issue date and expiry date,place of issue, your grandparents name(they ask in one of the forms)....
and thts it ...then after your done ...they wil send a link of their filled application forms to your email address....and then you will hve to print the interview letter, the Ds-156,157 forms etc...
