Can anyone share recent experience in Chennai Consulate?

Dear Friends,

Can someone shed some light on the interview process setp by step from security check to interview room in the chennai consulate?

Do the applicant need to give all the documents they have to CO?

OR

only the application first and give other documents on demand?

Hi,

I got these information from a member whose parents got visa in Nov 2005.Hope this helps...

Shall try to tell you as much as I remember from my exp. Things might have changed. Let anyone who is going to the visa that it is usually like this but ask them to be prepared for changes. AND this is at Chennai Consulate.

At entrance the security guard will check your appointment date and time and your passport and then let you in. (note: they don't let you in until your time as in no point going there way too early)

Then you go through security check(metal detector).It is similar to the ones in the airports. The guard there goes through your papers as in just flips through just to make sure nothing else is there in between the papers. (NOTE: Do not carry cellphones, cosmentics in your handbag, also no sealed envelopes)

Then you stand in the queue and pay the TTS courier charges of Rs441 and get a reciept for that.

Then stand in another queue and pay one of the DDs ie Rs4600 one. There she has asked for the application form, passport and my notice of action(had been there for renewal) and just checked somethings and handed it back to me with a reciept

Then went into the next building and there they ask you to stand in the queue or sit there based on crowd(as in how many people ahead of you).

Then one person asks you to go to one of the windows. The interview with the Officer will be through a window counter as in like the bank teller windows.

Then the offcier will ask you some papers depends on case to case. Sometimes asks lots of questions, sometimes very few. And decides to issue you visa.

If you have opted for interpreter Offcier will communicate through him/her.

If asked to pay the other DD Rs2400(or whetevre amt the second DD is for). So if they asked you to pay that amt CONGRATS y ou go tthe visa.

They will send the passport through courier.Usually reaches in a day or two unless weekends and holidays.
