I want to sponsor a very good friend to visit me. He doesn't think he has enough money for his visa to be accepted on his own. Long story short, I don't want to get an Employment Verification Letter. I have my reasons. If you really must know, I will tell you upon your inquiring. Will this automatically result in my friend's visa being denied?

Does the sponsor of someone seeking a B2 Visa need ALL the documents?

It is perfectly alright for you to pay for your friend's visit. However, the visa officer will very likely ask him about you and your background. If your friend is unable to provide this information (*) the outcome is likely to be rejection of the visa. If you have privacy concerns about your salary, you could send the employment verification letter with salary information to your friend in a sealed envelope which can then be given to the visa officer if requested. Presumably you trust your friend to not open the envelope.
(*) The questions most likely to be asked: "What does your friend do?" or "Where does he work?" or "How long has he been in the USA?" or "How did he go to the U.S.?" - these are questions he should be able to answer. If the visa officer wants to persist, he may request your income level. It is here that your friend may need some evidence as back up.Last edited by pb2au; 02-24-2015, 01:03 AM.
