  • Scheme for getting an earlier date ???

The earliest date I'm getting is in mid-April for Mumbai consulate and I desperately need an earlier date. Anyone have any idea how I can do that ?

This is how I am thinking of doing this ...
I've already saved the applications but not selected a date yet and I keep checking every half hour if an earlier date is available. Thus far no luck but initially when I was filling up the online form a February date opened up for a brief time. I guess someone grabbed it.

Is this a good game-plan or should I go ahead and at least schedule it for April and then change it to an earlier date if I get one. I'm afraid that once I get an april date and then when I'm checking I see an earlier opening, by the time I go and try to re-schedule it that date will be gone and then I'll lose the date that I already had also !!!

I'm confused about how to do this ?

Anyone have any better ideas or suggestions ?

I don't have any suggestions for getting an early appointment. But if it is any consolation, I made an appointment on Aug 10, 2005 and the earliest I could get was on Jan 17, 2006 in Chennai consulate. Five months for an appointment shows the sheer inefficiency of US consulate and the systems they built to obtain appointments (at that time ttvisas). I am surprised to see vfs system giving dates so far off even though it makes sure that legitimate people get the appointment.

I makes me conclude that US consulate has become a bureacratic behemoth that is sulking in its own inefficiency. Add more centers and more staff if the queue is large stupid!
