  • Administrative processing!!

    Hi,
Anybody who has recently gone through administrative processing?
My mom had her interview today for visitor visa at Delhi Consulate. Her day started with some bad news.We didn't know that visa fees has increased so first thing she had to go outside the consualte to change her draft to 4600/-frm 4400/-.Came back inside submitted the draft, and to her surprise even TTS took there 441 bucks before her interview(but thankfully gave a receipt)Then she went for her interview.
I always used to tell her to avoid a FEMALE CO.But guess who took her interview a Female CO sitting in window no 13(my mom is really superstitious!)Anyways, interview went pretty good.Following q's were asked:
    -who is in US?
    -which place she works?
    -where does she live?
-how many kids u have?where are all of them?
-what does ya husband do?is he retired?how much pension he gets?
    -do i file taxes?
My mom also showed some family pics as proof of kids and ids of my bro and sis as they both are students in India.9just to stress on family ties)
Finally, the CO said,i can't issue visa to u today.come back after 2pm today for your fingerprints along with DD of 4000/-.Then we will call u in 2-3 weeks. She returned my mom's passport and DD of 2300/-.My mom left the consulate at that time.Came back inside after 2pm,gave her fingerprints and DD of 4000/(processing fees for fingerprinting)and went back home.
So we are just being positive that at least her visa is not rejected. Its just going to take few more weeks.
I know adm pro is just formality but not sure how much time its going to take exactly.any suggestions?any body going through same thing or had similar experience in past?
    Thanks to all!

      Hi!

Well the TTS service fees is always collected before the interview itself. Infcat thats the first thing you do when you enter the Cnsulate after the security check.

Also have heard that such a processing takes anywhere between 2-3 weeks. This being end of year and esp holiday season expect delays.

If I got it right, you haven't yet paid the visa assurance fees right? The Officer returned it to your mom right? So visa can be issued or rejected based on the admin. processing(sorry don't want to discourage you, but thought shall share the facts). But however usually it is approved. Hope for the best.

        hi.
do not worry it is normal process and this is their security concern. they will give the visa if everything comes out to be fine. but the process might take more than 4 weeks. some people had several months. but usually the visa is given.

          Thanks!

          Thanks Faz and Sonujan.
well we are expecting delays cause of holidays. My mom met 2 more people in embassy who were called after 3-4 wks(after collecting fingerprints).
i also checked FBI site.Think that name check takes more time than fingerprints.anyways,we are in no rush.Just wish that we get visa in the end.
          Thanks once again!

hey hi need a little info

Hey hi guys well i had my visa appointment on the 12 of december and my purpose of visit is an internship at the United Nations Headquarters.Well i was given an emergeny appointment and i went to the consulate with all my documents in new delhi.Well i was asked a lot of questions.I told them that i have to leave India on the 9th of Jan and they gave me a yellow sheet of paper with a marked paragraph saying that under section 212g my papers were being sent for verification. The counsellor told me that my papers were going for verification to washington and that it takes about a month to get the thing done and that it will be a close call considering that my departure date is near.I had all my documents and only my internship form was looked at and they didnt ask me foranything else.
Could u guys give me some info as to what they are checking and that whether they will check on all the information that i have given in my forms or its just that they wanna check with their database and find out whether they have something on me or not.
I would be really greatful if u guys could shed some light on it

              hi,
well it looks like your case is little similar to my moms visa.i feel they will just check if they have any records here about u,kind of security concern.
they told my mom that consulate will contact her in 2-3 wks.did they say anything similar to u too?and did they take ya fingerprints of all fingers?
              keep us updated.
              all the best!

                hey hi

Hey austin thanks for the prompt reply the thing is that they did not take any fingerprints other than my index finger and i am not sure what they are checking.I guess they might wanna contact my internship coordinator to really see whether i am expected by them.As far as the time frame is concerned the counselllor said "IT takes about a month for the processsing as the papers will be sent to washington..its going to be a close call considering that u have to leave on the 9th"
Well austin could u tell me whether ur mom got her visa or not and that when she went back to the consulate what sorta questions was she asked.
                keepin fingers crossed

Homeland security is implementing many methods for security. Be patient and you will be notified by the concerned Consulate about their decision.

                          more processing

It sounds like they only pull some people aside for further fingerprints (and fees!). It is extremely discouraging to hear that it really does take 3-4 weeks to process the prints and then go back and submit the passport (and then another 2 weeks of so to even get your passport back).

My husband went in for his interview in Delhi and everything was fine but then told him to come back for fingerprinting and that it would take another 3-4 weeks to process. I am a USC and he is arriving on a K3 visa so I am not sure if the type of visa makes a difference.

Have either of you that have already submitted fingerprints and passports received them back yet? Or are you still being told "administrative processing"?
