Hello everyone. Would you pls help me with my dilemma. I and my husband are US citizens. I'm planning on inviting my mother to the USA. Obviously, she is a pensioner and lives in Russia. I am currently unemployed; I am a student. My husband's income is more than enough for both of us. Everyone knows that pensioners' pensions in Russia are about $100/month. When I was reviewing the DS-160 form, I got stuck at the point PERSON/ENTITY PAYING FOR YOUR TRIP. Should my mother choose herself, me or my husband paying for her trip? Her income is $100/month and she is 70 years old. I have to income. Only my husband has it. Would it be better to write "self" or "other person"? If she chooses "other person" and writes my husband, will he be considered as "other relative"? What is better for the US Embassy if my mother writes me or my husband? Thanks

How in the world can anyone with an income of $100 a month fund a trip to the U.S. (assuming there are no other substantial savings she can show)? This is the question that will arise in the mind of the consular officer. What answer will she have?
While filling the DS-160, enter the truth. If you husband is going to fund her trip, then enter that. Yes, 'other relative' is the correct entry.
