travel within first year of 10 yr visa

Hello All,

My mother got 10yr visitor visa. But she does not have plans to come this year.
It seems some parents outside embassy told her that if you do not travel within first year, then the visa will get cancelled. Is it true? Can someone please advise me? Can we call Visa Consulate at Chennai/or some place to confirm that?

Your parents can travel anytime as long as their visa is not expired and validity of passport is more than 6 mos from the date of travel. Visa will not expires for not traveling in the first year.
