Driver's license rules vary by state. What happens in one state will not necessarily also happen in another. In many states, you will not be able to get a driver's license as they will look at your visa as well as proof of residence such as utility bills, etc. which must be in your name. Proof of address, proof of lawful entry, etc. There are a couple of states that don't check immigration status but that list grows smaller and smaller. By 2016, it is likely that all 50 states will have complied with checking status.Originally posted by help2014 View PostIn 2011 a ssn was issued to me on k1 visa however i m in united stated now on b2 visa. You can drive with foreign licenses.

As Mogu said - it isn't about having or not a SSN, but being able to demonstrate legal presence in the US. AFAIK, there's only ONE state that issues driver's license to B1/B2 holders, and that is California - and only if your stay will be for more than three months (I think?). But in any case, they will set the expiration date to the same date your legal presence ends.Originally posted by help2014 View PostIn 2011 a ssn was issued to me on k1 visa however i m in united stated now on b2 visa. No other state will issue a driver's license if you have a tourist visa. Why would you need a US driver's license anyway ?
