  • For Immihelp....very urgent

    Dear Admin of the Imminhelp,

Ist of all I must say that u r doing a great job in helping out the needy ppl.I also need ur help urgently.B4 mentioning my problem I want to tell u something abt myself.

I am 26 yrs old guy from pakistan.I am a medical graduate and want to visit US for my USMLE step 2 CS , Step 3 exam and the residency programs(specialization) interviews, which r allowed on a B1/B2 visa.Basically the exam can be taken on any date in the year but the interviews period is from Nov till Jan.I applied for my visa in Aug 2005 and was expecting that I will get visa for the desired period.I correctly mentioned in the forms that Y do I wanna go to US.But my security clearance was delayed for 4 and a half month.I got my visa on 29th Dec 2005 and it is valid till JUne 25 th 2006 and is a single entry visa.I also have one previous US visa which was for 3 months n single entry.I have travelled to US once B4 n have returned in time.

Now the real headache starts here.If I go in june say for example 15 th june n ask for 6 months I 94.....it will expire in Dec but I wana stay till jan.....so is it a wise move to apply for extension of 2 months even when my visa would expire on june 25th 2006....wont they take this into account when I apply for extension. Also think abt it, is it a good plan to travel to USA just before 10 days of visa expiry and ask for I 94 of 6 months even when u have good reason to stay there(I mean for ur USMLE exams and interviews). What do u say....I need ur kind words ASAP.

My Plan B is to visit US now and take only one exam that is USMLE Step 2 CS and leave the step3 exam and then come back and reply within a week or so for another visa on the basis of step3 exam.......will it not create a problem at US consulate.....coz there wont be much gap between coming back and reapplying?????even in my previous visa forms I did mention that I wana go for step2 CS and step3 and interviews........N I am sure that they will refer back to those forms when I apply....so another suspect act......

I am so confused.I am sure that as an Indian brother U will definitely bless me with ur kind words.....I will be waiting more than eagerly....

    With Bestest Regards,

    Plan A is good !

Your visa stamp expiry date is only relevant for entering into the US. There is no problem in entering 10 days before it expires and asking for a 6 month I-94. Generally the officer at the port of entry doesn't ask too many questions but if he does then state your facts whatever they are. Under any circumstances DO NOT mention about your plan to apply for an extension.

Once you get in file for your extension by the end of the 4th month with all the relevant supporting evidence. You seem to have a valid reason (USMLE exams and such) so provide all that proof along with the extension application. It takes about 3-4 months for the response to the extension to come through and you can stay in the country till then. If you get approved then you are ok ... and if you are rejected you will have to leave immediately which is fine because by that time you would have already stayed for the 2 extra months that you wanted to in the first place.

    Check-mate !!!
