  • Applying for another b-2 visa

    Hey folks,

I have a one year b-2 visa and am currently in the US taking care of my sick mother (US citizen). There are a couple of issues.

Firstly, whilst the visa in my passport claims to expire 16 Feb 2006, my i-94 is stamped May 28 2006, a 6 month period from my arrival on Nov 29. I presume this means I can stay until May...?

Secondly, given the nature of her illness, I need to be able to return to the US if her condition declines. My query is, if during the period of processing my application (about 6 weeks last time), I need to return, how do I get out of Australia without a passport and valid US visa? I understand the visa waiver system applies in my case but that only gives me 3 months and is not flexible enough for me to provide what may be long term care. Is there a way to hasten the visa process, especailly since I have been issued one in the past, or am I stuck at the back of the queue. I can access all medical documentation regarding her condition to support my needs. Is there a sympathetic ear i can hope for???

    Thanks in advance,

    Mal

      Hi!

You can stay upto what is mentioned on the I94. However would recommend you to keep a copy of your I 94 for further references so that your stay will not be considered an over stay the next time you visit US.

If your mom is a citizen can't she not sponser you greencard? But I think there is an age limit for it. Not tooo sure.
