  • Please help visa interview....

    Hello Everyone:

I am a student on a F1 visa doing my masters in US.

Sadly 2 months ago my father expired and now I want to bring my mother to the US,
So i guess the only option i have is a B2 visa (am i right?)

I have some queries regarding the interview that my mother has to go through

    Some background details:

    I am the only child
    Mother is a pensioner
    Now she is living alone
    Savings of about 15 lakh

So i am really not sure about the via questions that could be asked and the ones i know for sure are going to be asked, i dont know what to answer...

the questions i got to know through search are
Q- With whom do you live?
In this question should she tell she is living alone or saying that she lives in a joint family is better???

Q- When did your spouse die?
Should the actual date (i.e. 2 months back be said) or it should be said line 2-3 years ago( to prevent 214(b)) ???

    Q- what do you do?
    I am a pensioner.

    Q - how many children?
only one (me) can it be taken -ve?

    Q- Who will pay?
I ll sponsor myself with savings and bank statements (will be shown)

Q- Questions about son?.... (i ll give my invitation letter , residency letter, i 20)

Please Please suggest me if the answers are right and what should be said in the above questions....

Also if you have any new suggestions on the questions... new questions.. that too....

    Thanks

With those answers I am sure they will reject because your mother is a widow and you are the only son. Once she is rejected she will never get it again, it will be on their records, so do it "right" the first time, the answers should be such that she is none of those two above, you know what I mean :-)

      The truth

You should always tell the truth. If you are not honest and it's discovered you will be banned not just denied. They have been doing this for a long time...

With that being said the chances of getting a B2 visa are not good based on the information you provided. Frankly, I don't think the B2 would be approved with either answer you choose since it doesn't change her situation just changes details about her situation.
This is my opinion not legal advice.

Just because she is a widow doesn't mean she can't get a visa.

Last year my aunt went to the US to visit. I filled the DS-160 for her and gathered all the documents for her. She's a widow, she lives alone, she had never travelled anywhere and her only son works and lives in South Africa with his wife and two kids. She has a house she lives in and two other houses that her husband left that she rent them to get money from, and a small farm that my father is taking care of which also benefits her with money every month. She showed all the papers of her properties to the VO.

The only question the VO asked her was "why is your sister's daughter sponsoring you when you have enough money to do so?" and she answered: "she considers me as her second mother, and she wouldn't let me pay for anything. It's our tradition" which is true.

In your case, as you are a student, your mom just needs to show strong ties and the money to cover her trip and stay in the US while visiting you. And please, be honest with every question
