You really didn't go wrong anywhere, and it appears you answered all the questions truthfully. However I do see some things that probably led to the denial.

First, you are from Ghana and there are red flags for people coming into the U.S. who are from Ghana so you are already going to be looked at much closer. You have finished your studies where you are now, You have a friend here who is a citizen so that means coming here you are visiting someone who is already established and could assist you if you wanted to immigrate. You appear to be financially independent, your 30 so considered young, and it doesn't sound like you have a spouse, children, a home or anything else that would show strong ties to home country/ or country of citizenship.

The real question is why would you not try and immigrate? And since they do not have a good answer to that question, you were denied.

This is my opinion and not legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.

I agree with Trinity71, I was going to say the same thing.

My friend is from Ghana and he was denied 3 times before although his situation was improved and he has a good salary and works in Morocco and bought a house there. Bt he's single, so maybe that's why.
