  • How long to wait after parents visa is done to initiate in-laws visa

    Hi,

My parents are having visa interview in Jan 2016, I am sponsoring my parents. Once their visa is done I want to initiate my in-laws visa and I will be sponsoring them too. Can I immediately start the visa process for my in-laws after my parent's visa is done or should I wait for couple of months. In case I need to wait, please let me know for how long I should wait so that I don't have any problem with my in-laws visa.

If my in-laws self sponsor them how much savings they need to show in their accounts. What are the chances of getting a visa if they are self sponsoring.

    Thanks,
    Amit

Yes. Sometime people invite parents and in laws together.

There is no problem as long as you can show that you can support them and are able to sponsor them.

There is no set amount that is enough for self sponsor. As long as they have money for travel and other expenses. Around $5000 is good enough.
This is not a legal advice. Use at your own risk.

They have to apply for a tourist visa at the US consulate in their home country. A letter showing that you provide for their expenses when they are in the US would be helpful. However it is also important that your parents show substantial ties to their home country, like a job and house..
