  • Mother visiting twice in a year, but for a total of 6 months

My mother is going to be in US for 3 months starting March till June, and then she plan to come back for another visit towards August end (together with my father this time) for another 3 months stay. I know that there is no minimum period of 'duration out of US' stipulated for visitors coming to USA, but typically what would be a condition that triggers a red flag at immigration/port of entry?

In fact, my mom would be staying only a total of 6 months with both visits, but the confusion I have is about her re-entry in August after just under 3 months of stay outside of USA (in India). Would it be okay if she tells that she had to go back for family reasons and wanted to come back for another 3 months along with my Dad?

No standard rule, but should be ok. Entry depends solely on the CBP.

Thanks for your confirmation. I would like to know from senior members/others with similar experience if anyone know of cases where anyone was denied/allowed entry in such circumstances.

You would not be able to gauge what will happen at the port of entry or what your odds may be based on others experiences. It just doesn't work that way. I agree with Daggit. There is not a set or standard rule and it's entirely up the the CBP.
I would not think she would have any issues based on what you have stated.
