Confusion about B2 Visa extension - Urgent

My mother`s I -94 is getting expired on May 5th - 2016. She is on B2 visa. We applied for a extension for my mother for 1 extra month.

We know that if the extension is denied , the visa will be void. my question is,

1. Can she stay in US while the extension is in process?

2. Will she face any issues if she re applies for visa again. ?
