Vise denied? paperwork hadned back so they can contact police - how long?

I'll start by saying this whole process is made incredibly tedious and extremely annoying, here are my circumstances

i was arrested for GBH approximately 8 years a go, it went to crown court but i was found not guilty so i have no conviction, i got my acro certificate which said 'no live trace' on it and took it to the interview, when i had the interview the paperwork was handed back to me and i was given a piece of paper which said i need to email ACRO and give them permission to speak to the us embassy about the case so the embassy can continue with my visa application, this was a couple of weeks a go and i sent the emails out the same day as the interview, How long is this process going to take? i cant get through to anyone but automated messages when i phone up any of the numbers , when i check the status online it just says 'in process'

what do i do now?
Is there any one i can speak to at the embassy about how long this will take?

Im really angry about it all tbh, ive paid a good amount of money only to be handed my paper work back, i dont even have a conviction.

There is really nothing more you can do than to wait.

There is really no standard wait time. It can take any time.
