I had to schedule my parents Visa appointment Date at the earliest but the vey first time i took an appointment i got it for 3rd July (which was just too late).
I then started checking the website daily to prepone the appointment & after 3 weeks got an appointment date of 2nd March in mumbai
The Consulate officer did not ask for any other document than what is specified in www.vfs-usa.co.on.
My mom was not asked any questions. My dad was asked few questions like where does your son work in US, how long he plans his visit etc and he was given a 10 year Visa.
People who plan to schedule an appointment
(1) Do not get disheartened if you get a date too late then what you need.
(2) Keep checking the website (especially during India time) when the cancellations are on the high side and you are sure to get a date in near future.
(3) While you keep checking for date, parallely get all the documents ready.
(4) For the documents required by sponsor/visitor carry those specified in www.vfs-usa.co.in.
(5) Remember : the vfs website has a screen called "Earliest available date" but this is misleading becoz it only shows slots available for an individual but when you plan to schedule for a family (parents) it does not match with available dates.
