  • b2 visa interview experience

i applied for the USA b2 visa and my appointment date was on the 23rd of July 9.30am at the us embassy here in Lagos Nigeria, i got to the embassy at around 8.30am, i did the necessary documents check and got in for the interview proper. my purpose of my trip was to visit a friend in Maryland and visit places of interest, my interview went thus:

    VO: Good morning
    Me: good morning sir
VO: passport please (slid it over to him)

VO: why are you going to the USA?
    me: on vacation

VO: where are you going to in the states?
    ME: Baltimore Maryland

VO: how long will you be there for?
    ME: 2weeks

VO: what will you be doing during your visit?
ME: i will be visiting (i mentioned some places of interest not far from where i will be staying at most 20mins drive from where i will be staying)

VO: Have you ever traveled out of Nigeria before?
ME: yes, been to Ghana and south Africa

VO: what do you do for work?
ME: i am a telecom installation engineer

VO: how long have you been doing that for?
    ME: 6years, July 1st made it 6yrs

VO: i see you have a brother in Baltimore (looked through my application before asking)
    ME: no, a friend

he tagged my passport and gave me a white slip to go pick up my visa in 3 days, which i did and i saw a 2 years approved visa.i thank God for his favor and i will say to people pray, prepare and be yourself and you will see its not a big deal.

    observations:
they don't need to see your documents, they will only ask you if they don't see the confidence in your word. when in the hall don't involved in any chat with people just be relax.

    documents with me was:
    1. my savings bank statement
    2. letter of approval of leave of absence
    3. letter of introduction from my employer
    4. identity card (don't hang it on, just put it in your pocket, that's shows you are trying to prove something, just be relaxed)
