Hi guys, I'm a 34 year old single female with no travel history . Have applied for B2 U.S visa to visit my aunt staying in the U.S alone. I'm a bit confused as to the reason to be stated for absence of travel history during the interview. The main reason is my mom's medical condition for the last 7-8 years due to which I had to be around to take care of her and home chores along with my sibling and father, though she's much better now hence my decision to travel. The other reason is that my parents don't really like travelling a lot hence the absence of travel history despite my aunt having stayed in the U S for more than a decade now. Please advise. Any help is highly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

All you can do is to apply, and must prove that you will return back to India to the CO's satisfaction at the interview. Unfortunately, many young, single, Indian females have forgotten to return home in the past. Many miraculously find a husband while visiting the US, while others suddenly fall in love with the US and attempt to become students. Those are your biggest hurdles to overcome if you were to apply.

All applicants must pledge honesty throughout the visa process. US embassy staff in India (and elsewhere) are versed in recognizing coached responses; having a studied set of responses is not a formula that works. Indian applicants are known to try "..what should I say to increase my visa chances.." or "..how should I minimize chances of a visa rejection..". It's best to go with the flow and respond with whatever the genuine truth is.

In my personal opinion, do not apply and do not waste your money. Young, not married with no travel history those are the 2 main reasons among others for visa denial. And if you are concerned about your aunt, her condition or that you haven't seen her in a long time or if she is a citizen, I don't think they will consider those things.Last edited by tshh; 08-14-2016, 06:29 PM.

Most importantly, make sure that you have strong ties. They usually have an idea from your information you provided and in some cases do not look at your papers during the interview. But that's my opinion.
