Multiple Entry Visitor Visa Expiring soon but also planning a trip to US.Help Needed

My mom B2 multiple entry (10 years) visa is expiring soon in December 2016. We are looking to get bring her here in the month of october 2016 till Jan 2017.

We initially thought of applying for multiple entry visa but looks like the process in Chennai(India) consulate would take 2 months. we researched and found its acceptable to bring them here when the visa is still valid and the duration of their stay is dependent on I94 . Is that true?

Any insights appreciated and its kind of urgent.

She can enter US before her visa expiration date and her stay will depends on I-94 stamp.
