  • *TIME SENSITIVE* Lost passport w/ Visa. Got new passport. Found old passport w/ Visa

    Hello all,

This is extremely time sensitive so any help and advice is much appreciated!

Here is the situation, it's a little bit complicated to explain but I'll do my best. My girlfriend is French. She lost her passport which had her NON IMMIGRATION B1/B2 VISA. She applied for and received a new passport. The next day she found her old passport which had her B1/B2. She now has two passports, one that is invalid but has her 10 year B1/B2 and another NEW passport which does not have a visa attached to it. Q: Is it possible for her to enter the US using the Visa from her old passport and the new passport as her identification?

I tried to explain the best I could. If you have any questions or are not clear on anything please don't hesitate to ask.

    Thank you!

This is complicated as her old passport with the visa is officially deemed lost or stolen and is no longer valid if a police report was filed and a replacement passport was obtained. It might serve you best to check with the US embassy.

She is going to try tomorrow morning but I don't think we will have time. her flight is leaving Monday the 22nd. She had applied for a visitor visa on her new passport but we just found out today that it was denied with no explanation.
I just talked to her and she said yes, she had reported her Passport as "lost" but she didn't cancel the visa... does it automatically get cancelled when the passport is reported "lost"??

If her visa application was denied then she wont be able to get past immigration. Sorry if this is bad news. This is why you must always get the visa and clearance before making plans. She can still try and see if she gets lucky.

Yea, she figured she wouldn't get denied for the 3 month visitor visa... apparently that rarely happens but I guess we got unlucky. We got the ticket before the visa because the ticket price was ridiculously cheap @ $274usd. If she gets denied entry into the country does she have to buy a flight back to france or do they just put her on the next flight home for free? And if she gets denied entry would that affect her getting a visa in the future or getting in the country in the future?
