US Tourist visa B2 tenure query

Hi Team,

I am applying for US Non immigrant VISA as my brother is studying in USA. Can you please let me know how can I select the tenure of VISA as my travel dates are not fixed and also I want multiple entry VISA. As my brother would be there for atleast 2 years for studies.
Same applies for my parent who may want to visit him multiple times during his tenure to visit USA.

If I cannot select the tenure then how is the tenure of US visa being granted to me/others determined and also the number of entries determined?

Also what are the fees for same, as i could only get information that 160$ is the visa fee. But for what tenure and how many entries?

You have to just select the duration for which you want to go for the first time. It is up to the consulate whether what duration to give and whether to give multiple entry visa or not. You can't choose that.

All you do is present your case. The interviewing officer makes a determination on whether or not to grant a visa, as well as the duration and number of entries. The $160 fee is paid upfront, whether you get a one-time 20-day visa or a 10-yr multiple entry visa. Even if denied a visa, the non-refundable fee is the same.
