Confusion over papers for widow mother

Hi ,
My father passed away almost 20 years ago .My mother's passport does not state my father's name as Late xxxxxxxxxx .It just lists his name.The passport was applied for and got a couple of months ago .When my mother asked them to erctify the mistake in the pasport office ,they said that they generally do not specify Late before names .Is that ok
Also while applying for visa in form DS -156 ,should I check Widowed for my mothers Marital Status and state my Fathers name as given in my mothers passport ?I see that when the application is saved ,the widowed option changes to widower ...
Please let me know how to apply.Thanks in advance for the help.

The passport should be OK

Select Window in the application & write your father name as it is written in her passport but make sure you have the death certificate in-case if conslate asks for it...most likely they will not ask for it...but just in-case...
