Enter usa with both b2 and f1 visa

Hi,
I have a valid F1 visa but the commencement of my classes is on January 2017 so I can't enter USA before December 2016. I would like to catch up with my sibling currently living USA. So is it possible to apply for B2 visa for a short trip to USA and then return back then fly back again on F1 visa to start my university?
Can you guys help me with this dilemma.

I would not suggest to apply for B1visa. You can meet your siblings when you come to USA on F1 visa.
