appointment after cancellation

Hi!
I took an appointment for my parents on the latest available date X.later,I cancelled this date to prepone it.the calender 'estimate current dates available for interview' showed dated prior to date X.But when I tried to take an appointment through already saved application,the chart showing available dates for interview was different.All the dates were after date X.
Is there some bug in the site?
Has anyone faced a similar problem?
Can one only postpone an appointment after cancellation?How can I prepone the date?

I don’t think you cannot get an earlier date just because you had cancelled the existing one. VFS also suggests the same to get an earlier date.

Keep checking for available dates and try to grab it before someone takes it.

If I remember correctly, all the data that you had entered online will be lost once you cancel your appointment. So is this not same in your case?

I also lost the data after cancelling the appointment but I filled up the forms again and saved them.
Now I am trying to get a new appointment using it.

By saying saved the data, you mean you saved the data in a temp local document/saved the pdf generated earlier, OR do you mean something else? Can you please clarify.

I think what meenu is trying to is… he/she (sorry) booked appointment first then cancelled it to get an earlier date. Then using same HDC receipt# saved the data online (by filling the forms again) and waiting for earlier dates.

I think VFS allows saving data for DS156 and 157 online without taking an appointment date for 30 days.

In my case it happened so, first I filled DS156 for my FIL and MIL and DS157 just for FIL. I was thinking DS157 is required only for the male applicants in the age of 16 to 45 years as this was the case with TT services.

Based on expert’s advice from this forum I filled DS157 for my MIL then took the appointment date after 2 days. All the data that I entered earlier was there.

thanks to RK for clarification.I also did the same thing.However,Ihave not been able to get an earlier date till now.I am still trying..
