  • 214 (b) refusal

Hi! I'm a filipina and I live in Japan for 6 years now I have a long term visa which will expired in February so I have to extend it again
I'm currently unemployed because I recently gave birth.
I went to my appointment for b2 visa and I got denied and got a 214 (b) paper
VO: Why are you going to us?
    X: for holidays
    VO: how long ?
    X: 6 weeks
VO: are you married to a us citizen?
    X: no
VO: then how is your child a us citizen?
X: we reported him here at the embassy with his father
VO: how is the father US citizen?
X: he was Filipino naturalized US citizen
VO: I'm sorry your visa is denied
    X: may I ask why?
VO: it all says on the paper (214b)

I brought proof that I have families here in Japan
    I own an apartment
I have invitation letter and schedule what I'm going to do in us for 6 weeks
    I have hotel reservations
I have a appointment letter on January for my son's immunization

-> I was married to a US citizen before and he left me without divorcing me here in japan
I'm not married in my country bc the marriage was invalid that's why they put me back to being single but when the vo asked me if I'm married to a us citizen I said no

Is that why I got refuse? Bc he thinks I lied to him?

Your answers were contradictory. You should have explained your situation in better way to the visa officer.

Yes, your guess is correct the reason for the visa refusal. Please read, https://www.immihelp.com/usa-visa-re...lication-tips/
