Visitor Visa - Questions on Extension

Hi, One my friend is on tourist visa and his legal stay of the current trip in US expires on 7th Jan. He was sponsored by his brother and now he is not in good terms with him. He wants to extend his stay for another 6 months, but cannot approach his brother for filing an extension. What are the options available to extend my friend's stay for few more months. Can someone else sponsor the extension part, if so, will it go through? Pls assist if you have any information in this regard.

Is there any reason for extension of his stay? He can apply for extension but in the form I539 need to specify who will support him and need to attach I-134 form also.

I would suggest him to leave country and in future he can visit again.
