can you clarify, what exactly is the bar? a rough range atleast. Asking to understand funds required in case of self sponsor.Originally posted by rcmax View PostOne option is for your mother to self-sponsor if she can show sufficient income/assets (and documentation to prove the same) to the satisfaction of the VO. Note that the bar is quite high for this approach. Just an invitation letter from you is not enough.

There is no range but typically to prove ties to your home country based on finances the VO would like to see a big monthly income from a job/business not a chartered accountant given property appraisal. So for example a person making Rs1.5-2.0L/month in a good job is more likely to return back compared to someone making Rs 50,000 pm because the latter can make more than that in US doing a cash job at some desi motel for 6 months. Don't take what i said as carved in stone I am just trying to explain the concept.Originally posted by Huntsman View Postcan you clarify, what exactly is the bar? a rough range atleast. Obviously the main thing for a visitor visa is to show that you will not stay, sadly many do. So showing a financial position is part of your ties to your home country as well as evidencing you can afford the trip.
Having somebody else pay will weaken your position.
