  • B2 Visa Rejected In First Attempt

    Hello All,

My Mother and sisters applied for B2 visa - Reason of visit stated was tourism and sponsor is my Uncle who is a citizen of US. The interview went like this

    Q- Hi ,
    A- Hi

Q-What is the reason of travel and where are you going ?
A-Reason is tourism and visiting my parents and relatives in US and we will be staying at xxx.

Q-What will be the duration of stay
    A-2 months

Q-What does your husband do ?
A- He works as a manager in Saudi Arabia

Q- Have you travelled elsewhere in the past 5 years
A- Yes, to Saudi to visit my husband

Q(To my Sisters Now)- What do you do
A- We study ( One is in graduation and the other is in 11 standard)

Typed for sometime and said sorry I cannot give you a visa.

Now I'm unsure about the reason of rejection, the interview happened on 8 December 2016.

My Uncle's daughter is now scheduled to marry in March 2017 and my mother and sisters want to apply soon to attend the marriage.

    So my questions are
    1) Can they reapply stating cousins marriage as a reason( With my uncle as sponsor, affidavit of Support and Invitation Letter)
    2) What do we tell if they ask the previous reason of rejection
    3) What else should they be prepared to answer.

Your help is appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

There is no limit to the number of times they can apply.

    You can self sponsor.

Why they want to go is usually not that important, reasons for returning home are much more important.

My assumption is that they were refused for not being able to show non immigrant intent.

They should be prepared to show their strong ties to home and why they will not stay in the US.

Thank You for your response. In order to show strong ties back home we have the following
      1. Property
      2. Ongoing Education of my Sisters
      3. Taking care of our house

We will furnish enough proof for all this. Is there anything else that we should be prepared for ?

      Thanks

it is better that the applicant can show their own funds.

Seems that most visa's are decided before you get to the window and you are there to find out the answer, some may fall into the doubtful category so always good to take evidence of whatever are your ties.

I am afraid the above may not help. In the first interview officer knew your sisters are still studying but it did not make any difference. Property and taking care of house are no ties at all, property can always be sold. Both your sisters are young and they normally deny visa to youngsters, that is the main reason and it will most probably be the same outcome next time. if your mother applies alone she has better chances.
