Hello,
I am trying to renew visitor visa (expires in April 2017) for my in-laws. They are eligible for Interview Waiver Program and they just need to appear for Bio-metric data collection.
Both of them just got their new Passports done and we have an issue in my Mother-in-law’s passport.
Here First name is printed wrong with one letter mismatch… Instead of “ YYYY XNNISA” (correct spelling), it is printed as “ YYYY XNISSA” ….
Her Old Passport and Visa in her old passport has the correct name “ YYYY XNNISA”. My Father-in-law’s passport has her name (In Spouse’s section) correctly printed “ YYYY XNNISA” .
Now the question is,
• Would there be a big issue with “single letter” mismatch?
• Can I go ahead and submit the new Visa application with correct name as in her old passport/visa or a wrong name as in her new passport?
• For IWP, I would assume they will check her name from Old Visa and so, it’s better to use the correct spelling from old passport.. Isn’t it?
(OR)
• Is the only way to get the name corrected in new passport? We are trying to get them here by 3rd week of Feb, (tie them up with friends traveling to SD)..
Appreciate your response.
