Application refused

Hi there,

Me and my wife just had an interview at the consulate. The agent said that he wanted to check more about my background and kept our passports. He gave us a green paper that says "Your application has been refused" as the first sentence on the first paragraph.

What really happened? Were we declined a visa? But why are they holding onto our passports?

That seems contradictory.

If they kept the passport, that usually means that they are doing additional processing and will decide later.

If they refuse it, they would return the passport immediately.

Therefore, please contact them and inquire.

I just received my passport back and found a visa there. So, I guess they gave me a wrong paper, or they just out of the correct papers.
