I applied from hyd with my wife
Unfortunately VO rejected by visa. Everthing went smoothly here is the interview went like this

    Me : Good Morning
    VO : Good Morning

    VO : Passports
    Me : Given

VO : where are you working
    ME : m bussiness man

    VO : Income
me : 7 lakh per month

vo : any country u visit
    me : yes

vo : are you married ?
    me yes

VO : Asked my wife asking for her name
    Wife : Told yes
    vo : asked abut job
    wife told

VO : you went to any other country
    ME : she said yes

Then he typed about 2 min and said you do not qualify for the visa now & handed me the white paper with section 214 (b) I don't know what went wrong. He did not look any documents also.

What do you think I should apply with my wife only the next time. Pls for your suggestion

    Thanks

    Hi Niks Bakshi,

Do you have children, they did not ask about your children. I think there is no criteria for b2 visa simply without any reason they will reject.

Some of the visa decisions are already made based on the information applicant provided on DS160 and interview is a mere formality. Questions like Where you work, income, spouse name etc. is already there in the DS160 so they just ask it again to create a semblance of interview though the decision has already been made but the applicant thinks something went wrong in the interview.

        Hi rcmax,

As you said visa decisions are already made based on the information applicant provided on DS160 and interview is a mere formality. So should i go for the second time or no, or it's a waist of money.
In the refusal letter 214(b) it is written that I have to be prepared to provide information that was not present in my first application or to demonstrate that my circumstances has been changed since the first application just I want to know i cannot change anything in the application the only change is before I applied with my kids and now I am applying with my wife only. Should this can be considered as a major change in my circumstances. Please for your kind advice what should I change in my application.
        Waiting for your advice.

I said 'some visa decisions' NOT all. By 'some' I mean those which are very clear cut for denial or issuance. For others which are not so clear cut officer asks lot of questions to make final determination. In your case as you are not applying with kids this time in my opinion this is a major change so you may want to take a chance,

            Hi rcmax,

Just have a question? Having a relative or friend in US makes the more chances in getting visa approved. If so how?

            Thanks

I don't know for sure if it makes a difference. Probably it may give a little more credibility to the reason for visit. If one is going to US just for tourism with no one friend/relative visit then VO may logically think has this person been to some nearby European countries for tourism because it is more expensive to travel to US compared to a nearby destination.

                Thanks,

My monthly salary is SR 9000 (US$ 2400) do you think it is enough. And I didn't mention in my first application that I have friends in US because they are in different states and I want to go to New York and Florida. I just mention the hotel address which I booked. Shall I mention now or they will ask me why I did not mention in my first application.

Salary is not high. Taking a family of 4 on vacation which could easily cost $10,000 is 4 months of your salary, does raise eyebrows. Did the VO view it from that angle, we don't know but its likely and maybe that is why he asked you in the interview if you had been to any other country. This time you are only two persons going on trip so you are in a better position to afford the trip.

Putting friend's address is a toss up, you may have to think of a very credible answer if he asks why hotel first time and friend's place now? Probably you can say now that I am not going with my two kids its easier to stay at a friend's place.

                    Hi rcmax,

My appointment is next month, i have been denied US visitor's visa in 2003 i was single and and still student then in my home country. Now i am married, i have 5 children and we all have legal residency here in europe. my income is 2,116 Euro monthly, my income is from government because i have children with disabilities so i am a family carer. so my purpose of going to US is for conference related to my children with disabilities so as to learn different ideas and opportunity to reach their potential. i already booked hotel and i will only spend 3 days in US and i will return. Also i have 3 siblings in US two of them have US citizen while one have green card. But i'm not staying with them because they're far from where i will have conference. Do i stand a chance?

                      Hi rcmax,

Sorry to disturb you again, just want to ask if I will go for my second interview next week or I should give some time. My first interview was on 26 February 2017.

                      Thanks.

I don't want to influence you either way because no one knows the outcome. We have seen cases where people have got the visa on a second attempt in a short duration after the first and some who did not. In your case one major change is you are leaving kids behind and you can give that reason to the VO if he asks what has changed in so short time. If he asks why you are leaving them behind you can say "to prove that I will come back to home country and that my intent is purely tourism". One negative side is if your luck is bad and end up with a VO who doesn't put his mind to the change and automatically assumes nothing would have changed in such a short time and pre-decide to reject. Yes a lot depends on the nature of the VO too. So you need to make the decision by weighing the situation from both sides and make a decision.

Personally, I think everyone stands a chance of obtaining a B visa, however your chances are lower than someone who is tied down to a well paying job
