  • B1 to J1 (I'm in a Non-degree training program)

    Hello everyone,

I won a fellowship in natural resource conservation (A non degree program for 3 months) and I had succeeded. I was funded by an American institution based in Washington. But before coming to the US, I applied for the B1 visa. And the embassy gave me the visa without any problem. Now I am in the USA since 1 month under a B1 visa, and I had already started my internship at an American University. But I need to continue my research. I am thinking about whether to change my status from B1 to J1. I am in a Non-degree program and I will get a certificate after my training. I realized after that I should actually ask for a J1 visa. Is it possible to change the status? Is there any risk for trying to do it?

I am look forward from you very soon, please.
