B2 Visa I-539 Extension: Confused? Extending Visa or Duration of stay

Good Afternoon,
I am so confused about extending my duration of stay. I am currently in the US & am confused about the term "visa" used in applying for an i-539 extension. The visa I have from the US consulate is valid & I do not require an extension for. What I do need to extend is the duration of stay as Ive almost reached the 6 month duration date stamped by border control.
In terms of the word Visa, does this word Visa obtain to My consulate visa, or my customs port-of-entry stamp?

Visa is the thing on your passport given to you by the consulate for entry purposes only, and it cannot be extended. The visa is no longer relevant after you enter the US. What matters in the US is your status, as given on your I-94. You are applying for an Extension of Status.
