Hi all,
Its nice to share my parent's visa success story after being so tensed & stressed for last few days. Firstly I would like to thank all the co-ordinators. This website is great!!!
My parents had appointment at mumbai on 31st May. Following are the questions asked:
VO: Why do you want to go to US?
DAD: To visit my son & daughter-in law
VO: What does your son do in US?
DAD: Works for YYYY company in Colorado.
VO: Colorado is a beautiful place, you must visit there. Where do you plan to go in Colorado?
DAD: Apen.. Glenwood springs.. etc..
VO: How long has he been in US?
DAD: XX years
VO: What is his salary?
DAD: XX dollars
VO: Do you have a proof?
DAD: Showed my employment verification letter.
VO: Where do you work?
DAD: YYYY company at YYYY position
VO: How much do you earn?
DAD: YYYY Rupees
VO: How long do you want to visit US?
DAD: I want to go for 1 month & my wife will be there for 2 months.
VO: Where do you work?
MOM: Basically housewife, but does contract work for All India Radio
VO: Looked at the visa form & said that you have a degree in Music & Literature. That is great. How much do you earn?
MOM: YYYY Rupees
VO: I am approving your visa.
The things that really helped my parents were:
1. I send them a list of 25 questions (based on email threads from this group).
2. Took several mock interviews over the phone.
3. They visited a good consultant in Pune who arranged all their papers for them.. Double checked all my documents & also took mock interviews. The best I liked was that he raised their confidence level by probably discussing prior success stories. It might have been redundant to go to a consultant, but its ok. I always felt hard to explain my parents over the phone regarding visa regulations etc.
The entire iinterview was done in 2 minutes.
Thanks & wishing good luck to others..
